I love hearing the music. The most influent music equipments to me is a guitar. I love the sounds and the skill of people who playing the guitars. Beside that, one of the most similar like guitar and familiar to me is a “sape” one of the music instrument which played by Dayak community in Borneo Sarawak.

“Sape” were made from wood and using “Dawai” as a string and there available for 4 strings version and 6 strings version.

The sounds of “Sape” too natural compare to guitar and played with different style of skill. Most of the time “Sape were played during the havest festival as a guide for man and women during the dance or “ngajat” session.

Normally “Sape” will be played single or by grouping either. I was totally falling in love with sound of “sape” but I don’t have any idea how to play with these instrument instead.

It’s is requires different of skills and styles play of these “sape”. I can say ” It’s not easy as you play your guitar!”

The good news is you can buy these “sape” at Sarawak and try to master it by yourself..? if the guitar is familiar to you I hope this so. Let’s visit our Malaysia and see those thing with your own eye :)
